I received an email a few days ago about Westboro Baptist Church's protest at Temple University scheduled for April 1, 2010. They are protesting Temple's production of Rent and the Queer Student Union's production of the Laramie Project, which is based on the death of Matthew Shepard and attempts to spread awareness about violence based on discrimination. This is the blurb on the church's website (named God Hates Fags) about their scheduled protest at Temple:
Tomlinson Theater of Temple University 1301 W. Norris Street WBC to picket this Filthydelphia hot spot as they put on "Rent". Happy April Fool's day, how very fitting that you would need to be reminded of what fools you all are for messing with the God and King of Kings by flaunting and promoting filth to your generation. You will not be laughing or mocking God as you fly through the air as God spues you from that land with his hot displeasure. Leviticus 20:22 Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out. The SPUEING time, she comes! Antichrist Obama will leave you to wallow in your own filth as he escapes clean away to become King of the World, and God will be laughing at you! Praise and FEAR Him! AMEN!
Although the WBC may exert a very extreme form of homophobia, it is important to note that this sort of discrimination plays a large role in the everyday lives of many people. So if you can, please come to the counter-protest on April 1.

I like making eye contact with the person sitting across from me over the tops of our computers. Simultaneously awkward and cute.
But I guess that depends on who it is.
